Approaches to Improve Auricular Diagnostics and Auricular Treatment Baixiao Zhao, MD, PhD & Liqun Zhou, MD, PhD
Auricular diagnosis is an important aspect of auricular therapy. How to improve the auricular therapeutic effect? The diagnosis and point selecting is most vital. When disease or disorder is present in the Zangfu organs or tissues of the body, positive signs may occur on the corresponding areas of the auricle. For example ,discoloration, deformities, desquamation, pimples, angioparesis, tenderness, or lowered auricular electrical resistance may be seen. These positive signs can be used not only for diagnosing the position, nature, and clinical development of the problem, but also to provide reliable evidence for determining the selection of auricular points to be used in its treatment. In this topic the commonly used auricular diagnostic methods including a) auricular Inspection, b) auricular Palpation and c) measurement of auricular electrical resistance will be introduced

Auriculotherapy as a Complementary Treatment for Chiropractic Practice, Gary Ditson, DC, LAc & Jon Sunderlage, DC, LAc
This workshop will speak to, examine, and demonstrate the basic protocols used by Doctors Sunderlage and Ditson in the treatment of patients in their clinical practices. Dr. Sunderlage and Dr. Ditson will discuss and demonstrate the Triangle of Health. This procedure is used to remove the effects of physical, chemical or emotional trauma, thus allowing the body to heal more completely. Five major auriculotherapy points in combination with local body regions are used to enhance chiropractic and acupuncture treatments. The 3 phases are explained in detail as they parallel the Triangle of Health. Several clinical studies will be presented along with demonstrations of the Iliocecal Valve pattern and the associated points of the ear. Dr's Ditson and Sunderlage have over 40 years of experience with chiropractic, acupuncture, and auriculotherapy procedures.

Rapid Clinical Results with Auricular Acupuncture for Chronic Pain, Richard C. Niemtzow, MD, PhD & Stephen Burns, MD
The student will understand the technique of combining ear auriculotherapy points and acupuncture points on the Large Intestine meridian on the index fingers that result in establishing a saliva flow and changes in Meibomian gland secretion of the aqueous component of the tear film. They will examine and practice the technique of using either needles or electro-stimulation of the ear and the use of needle points on the hand for differential treatment of saliva or tear flow.

9am-1pm Identifying and Treating Blockages to Healing in Difficult Patients
Beate Strittmatter, MD & Frank Bahr, MD
Therapists around the world know the following problem from their daily practice: some patients seem to be resistant to treatment despite all diagnostic and therapeutic efforts. Whether it is a young and healthy woman with recurrent inflammation of the bladder or a fit man with tormenting back pain - the symptoms have become chronic, and the key for unlocking the vicious cycle seems to be lost. Quite often the key to solving the health problem is a focus, e.g. a scar, a devitalized tooth, a chronic inflammation. Usually the focus itself does not cause any symptoms of its own. The method of identifying a focus by means of active acupuncture points in the reflex zones of the ear is so simple and so easy to learn that it doesn't come as a surprise that, in Germany and many other European countries, focus diagnosis has now become a widely practiced method of complementary medicine, especially for patients who are resistant to therapy. In many cases, where such foci were found and treated with ear acupuncture or neural therapy an improvement in chronic ailments that previously resisted conventional treatments could be seen. This workshop addresses the basic concepts and information about this revolutionary approach to healing. After the workshop practitioners will be able to understand where blockages to healing are likely to appear, how they can be treated effectively, how they can estimate their success (whether focus activity has stopped) and how to go on after the first treatment.

Different Strategies of Auriculotherapy for Consequences of Cancer Therapeutics, David Alimi, MD
Practical presentations on these different auriculotherapy strategies for post cancer pathologies : nociceptives and neuropathics pains, phantom pain, toxics neuropathies, hot flushes, xerostomia, and esthetic damages. Neurophysiologic explanations of these strategies.

Auricular Acupuncture and Oriental Pulse Diagnosis, Diane Iuliano, MAc, LAc
This workshop will assist acupuncturists to determine the most beneficial auricular points to use for treatment based upon Oriental pulse diagnosis. The polarity of a desired medium (needle/intradermal/pressball/seed) and effectiveness of treatment may be enhanced utilizing the pulse. A demonstration and group practice will follow the lecture.

Advanced Auricular Therapy for Enhancing Clinical Outcomes
